Fringe Earrings with Lapis Lazuli and Coral Accent

142.00

These earrings feature stamped brass circles with a fringe of lapis lazuli tubes, Mozambique Island trade beads, and coral. Inspired by macaw feathers, they are colorful and slightly asymmetrical (just like the best of nature!). Earrings are lightweight and hang just under 2" from oxidized sterling silver hooks. One-of-a-kind, ready to ship.

The trade beads used in this piece were made some 200-400 years ago in Venice, Italy and then taken to Africa on ships by Portuguese merchants. Over the years there were many shipwrecks off the shallow coast, and the beads and other relics spilled into the sea. Nowadays they wash ashore on remote Mozambique Island, worn and weathered by the centuries of salt and sand.
