Representing geography from New Mexico to Mozambique, a sequence of antique trade beads, turquoise and shell is suspended on an oxidized silver chain. Each gradient is unique. Necklace measures 17.5” and has an extender for versatility.

The trade beads used in this piece were made some 200-400 years ago in Venice, Italy and then taken to Africa on ships by Portuguese merchants. Over the years there were many shipwrecks off the shallow coast, and the beads and other relics spilled into the sea. Nowadays they wash ashore on remote Mozambique Island, worn and weathered by the centuries of salt and sand.
